Overview

The New England Sustainability Strategy is partnering with OzGreen to convene a YOUth LEADing Australia Congress to develop leadership by students and youth on sustainability and climate change.

The three day Congress is being held in Armidale from 24-26 November and aims to involve 50-100 delegates and be one of more than a dozen locations across Australia forming a national effort or more than 2,500 young people developing individual and collective sustainability action plans.

This initiative acts directly on priorities agreed at the New England Sustainability Forum (2008): developing youth skills in sustainability, enabling youth to be heard and strengthening the New England Sustainability Students & Youth (NESSaY) network.

Delegates will share their stories, actions and inspiration with thousands of other young people around the world through digital media and technology. They will connect with other groups and organisations in their own local communities who are already making a difference and find new ways of working together to accelerate the transition to sustainable living.

YOUth LEADing New England provides an exciting opportunity to be involved with the establishment of a highly capable and motivated student and youth network for sustainability, providing leadership and action for the quality of our lives, the future of our planet and of generations to come.
